Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
This course is appropriate for experienced first aiders and people who complete their training regularly.
Assessment is through a combination of practical first aid activities and a written test paper. You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.
Provide First Aid: Provide First Aid is a Nationally Recognised course, that provides participants with the qualification to be a First Aid representative in many workplaces and other required situations. The course we deliver is highly practical and focused on real Safety Scenarios that you can put into practice.

Course Format
Blended Delivery
- 5-6 hrs Blended Pre-course study and Face to Face Practical Assessment
- 3 hrs Online Pre-Course study -which requires students to log in as many times as required to complete the course – you do not need to complete the course all in one sitting.
- 2hrs Face to Face Practical Assessment
Assessment Requirements
- Online Multiple choice theory work
- Group activities and oral questioning
- Practical demonstrations/skills assessments
Physical requirements of this course
It is a requirement of this unit that students are to perform a minimum of 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor. This is a mandatory requirement as stated in the Training Package and there are no exceptions that can be made.
If for any reason students are unable to perform these physical requirements, students cannot be deemed competent or issued with a Statement of Attainment and will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.

- 1 form of photo ID (i.e. Passport, Drivers licence, Photo ID card, Student card)
- Wear comfortable clothing
Competencies included on Statement of Attainment – Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation – Valid for 12 months
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid – Valid for 3 years
